There are two ways to get to Cooktown from Cape Tribulation "Australia" The Long Way Round takes the short way (for a change) across the Bloomfield Track. A 32km journey, climbing high into the tropical rainforest of Saddleback and Cowie Ranges to Wujal Wugal where we visit The Bloomfield Falls. This trip is exclusively a four wheel drive track and not to be taken lightly the steepest section is over Cowie Range a ascent and descent of 33% or 30 degrees. The Bloomfield track can be impassible within seconds of any substantial rainfall. Please take care near the rivers edge as crocodiles inhabit this region. The other is to go back to Mossman taking the mountain road to Mareeba, Lakeland then onto Cooktown.
